Me llamo Dulce

I get a lot of Dul-see, Dolce, and I’ve even gotten Jose (because somehow they sound the same over the phone), but it’s Dull-Say – or Dool-se, which I prefer.

I am 29 years old and kind of looking forward to 30. I am a first generation Mexican-American. My favorite color is any shade of blue. I am a Pisces, an enneagram 2 , the youngest of 5, a marine scientist, and a firm believer in all things love.

What led me to start a blog?

I wanted…

  • a place to put my thoughts, as a form of catharsis
  • a method to connect with people passively and virtually
  • to share my thoughts and experiences on topics I’m passionate about including mental health
  • to create a space that has the potential to spark inspiration, motivation, or simply connection

Currently I am watching Friends for the first time and I didn’t know it was missing from my life. I am still obsessed with Taylor Swift and I love anything Urbano Latino a.k.a El conejo malo a.k.a Bad Bunny. I have a great a relationship with my family and sometimes spend too much time with them, but I wouldn’t have it any other way- I think. We are a HUGE animal family. I am currently fostering three kittens that my dad rescued. We have two dogs, two cats, two birds, and one tortoise. I may dedicate a future post to my pets.

I successfully completed 11-months of a California State Sea Grant fellowship with the a state agency (8 days into the fellowship we were sent home because of COVID) and met some badass scientists. I recently started my first career job as a wetlands specialist (sounds dull, but I’m part of an amazing team that’s responsible for cleaning and treating your urban runoff in Orange County) at a local water district. I want to share my experiences as a new hire during the global pandemic (coming soon!). I am still trying to finish my MS in Interdisciplinary Marine & Estuarine Science (sheesh, it’s a mouthful), and it is a STRUGGLE to say the least. It was worth it though, because I made the best of friends during grad school. And am forever grateful for them. Oh, I also recently start working out, so there’s that.

I think this sums up my life at the moment.

I hope you stick around!
